Dewberry seeks to hire Archaeological Field Technicians for an upcoming projects along the east coast of America , weather dependent. Additional work assignments may lead from this project contingent upon the quality of the archaeological services demonstrated throughout this assignment. Requirements

  • Minimum project requirements include successful completion of an archaeological field school
  • Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology or related field.
  • Physical requirements include standing or kneeling for long periods of time, hiking in rugged terrain, and carrying up to 40 lbs of gear.
  • This project requires prior experience with GPS units in the field and traversing topographically challenging terrain to conduct a surface archaeological survey.
  • The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions and be able to work under supervision and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of precontact archaeological material is preferred.
  • Previous experience with all phases of excavation and artifact identification are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Summarizing field results, including preparing shovel test profiles
  • Preparing GIS analyses of field results to produce graphics for inclusion in reports
  • Researching histories of project locations and writing summaries of the local history for inclusion in project reports
  • Preparing field maps for future field work efforts in advance of archaeological surveys
