About The Position
Under the close supervision of the Parks & Recreation Superintendent & Aquatics Manager will perform professional duties to ensure the proper operation of the facility and supervise all aquatic center staff when the manager is not present. Assist in hiring, training, scheduling , supervising, and appraising LAC staff. Ensures the safet y of the patrons in and around the pools, monitoring swimmers and guests, and enforcing all safety rules and health regulation s , supervising cashiers, and maintenance/custodial staff. Will act as the on-site supervisor in the absence of the Parks & Recreation Superintendent or Pool Manager. There are 5 assistant managers for the Aquatics center, 1 each for the following areas: Cashier & Concessions, LG Safety, Maintenance & Custodial, Scheduling & Office, WSI Programs. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Assist in hiring aquatic facility personne l , Establishing policies , procedures, and safety rules for the personnel and the public . Directly supervises all aquatic center staff Responsible for the operation of the aquatic facility, including pool maintenance and cleaning, water chemistry testing, chemical adjustments, and Performs regular chemical checks, updates, and prepares daily Schedules staff to include Head Guards, Lifeguards, and other staff as needed; ensures that swimmers are well supervised in the pool and on A ssists in orienting new Head Guards and Lifeguards to job duties and responsibilities . Ensure that all staff are current on training and Assist the Pool Manager in scheduling, coordinating, and conducting i n - service training Ensures that lifeguards are competent in first - aid, CPR, and water rescue Ensure that all LAC staff perform in accordance with established safety regulations and policies ; Inventories and recognizes when supplies or e q uipment need to be ordered and communicates the needs t o the LAC Interfa c es with patrons regarding concerns, prob l e ms, or any other significant i s s u e s ; p r o vi d es input and f ee d b a ck while responding to problems . Ensures that aquatic programs are occurring as desired and assists with the overall management of swimming Pe rfor m s li f e g uard responsibilities, includi n g monitoring pool activities, applying first aid, and p e rformi n g water r es c u e s as n ecess a ry . Requirements
- Must be at least 17/18 years old depending upon position
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of 2-3 years of paid s up e rv i s o ry experience in an aquatic
- Possess or ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and F irs t Aid, and a food handler
- Ability to work morning s, midday, ev e nin gs, weekends, and holida y As well as April- September
