About The Position

The Aquatics Supervisor furthers the mission of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) through Stevens Ranch aquatics programs. The Aquatics Supervisor will supervise and manage the aquatics programming while providing safe, fun, and educational experiences for campers in accordance with GSUSA policies and procedures, American Camp Association (ACA) procedures, and Texas Department of Health requirements under the direction of the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Current Lifeguard Certification or ability to obtain one (provided by GSTOP).
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
  • Must be willing to work with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
  • Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp community.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance.
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Must reside at Camp Sunday-Friday during summer.
  • Plans, directs, and supervises a safe and fun aquatic program.
  • Trains and supervises aquatic program staff.
  • Creates and implements aquatic staff scheduling.
  • Manages the physical facilities and equipment of the assigned aquatic area while working directly with the site manager.
  • Effectively communicates regularly with the site manager.
  • Teaches aquatic staff and monitors aquatic staff on use of all aquatic equipment.
  • Monitors inventory and submits orders for supply needs to ensure timely arrival of supplies so that aquatic programming is not interrupted for campers.
  • Surveys aquatic area daily for any hazards, debris, and safety.
  • Works with the Assistant Camp Director/Business Manager on development of aquatic programs, progression of aquatic programming, and any recognitions for aquatics programming for campers.
  • Participates enthusiastically in all camp activities and contributes actively to planning and leading assigned events.
  • Establishes and follows appropriate health and safety routines for campers and staff.
  • Prepares, participates, and leads specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp areas. Participate in staff training and meetings.
  • Becomes familiar with the overall camp program.
  • Maintains area cleanliness according to the Texas Department of Health and GSTOP guidelines.
  • Assists in packing and unpacking all materials and supplies at the beginning and end of the summer camping season.
  • Learns evacuation procedures.
  • Assists in the training of campers and staff on weather safety and evacuation procedures.
