About The Position

The Aquatics Program Manager at Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics Programs. Responsibilities include overseeing and conducting Aquatics programs, supervising the swim instructor staff, and ensuring staffing needs are met efficiently. Additionally, the Program Manager will provide dedicated customer service to parents and club members as needed. Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Swim Instructor and Certified Lifeguard with valid First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Maintain certifications, including the Red Cross Lifesaving Rating.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Learn to Swim instructor and lifeguard.
  • Demonstrate safety as the highest priority.
  • Ability to teach large groups of children aged 6-18.
  • Command control of classes and organize swim class schedules.
  • Be a team player.
  • Assist in training new swim teachers and lifeguards.
  • Teach American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program, Swim Central, and IM Michael Phelps lessons.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
  • Embrace the long-term vision of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County Aquatics program.
  • Assist with completing skill report forms associated with BGCBC grant programs, requiring basic computer skills.
  • Work closely with the Aquatics Director to build a world-class Swim Program, which may include a swim team.
  • Manage the entire Swim Program in the absence of the Aquatics Director.
  • Serve as a positive role model for staff members and students.

  • Must obtain an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Must obtain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce all pool rules.
  • Ensure that boys and girls shower and are clean before swimming.
  • Assist with swimming classes and tests.
  • Help organize games and special events in the pool.
  • Take charge of the pool when the Aquatics Director is out of the pool area.
  • Observe all safety precautions at all times.
  • Assign staff or personally stand outside restroom doors whenever members are in the restroom.
  • Help maintain the pool and swimmers’ records.
  • Assist in other areas of the club when the pool is closed due to weather or other issues
  • Participate in Staff Meetings and Conferences.
  • Assist in keeping members aware of the swimming schedule.
  • Work assigned hours to maximize pool use, including morning hours during Swim Central program operation.
  • Report to work at the Levine/Slaughter (North Lauderdale) or Carver Ranches (West Park) pool as the Aquatics Director assigns. You may be required to work at both pools on the same day.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the Boys & Girls
