About The Position

The YMCA of Orange County is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively seeking highly engaged, intentional, and service-oriented individuals for Aquatics Program Lead positions. This role is an opportunity to play a key part in inspiring members and staff of all ages by delivering supportive, engaging aquatics experiences that build confidence in and out of the water. This position will look to foster genuine connections, practice exceptional hospitality, and create a safe, positive, and enriching environment where every interaction is meaningful. As an Aquatics Program Lead, you will help advance our mission by promoting water safety, healthy activity, and a welcoming environment for all members. Location: Pomona Area (Ganesha Park Pool & Washington Park Swim Center) Work Schedule: This is a seasonal position that runs from May to August. Available shifts are within the hours listed below: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 6:00pm - 8:00pm Tuesday - Friday 7:00am - 12:00pm; 1:00pm - 5:00pm Saturday & Sunday 1:00-5:00pm Purpose and Impact: Model Leadership: Welcome and support swimmers and families, ensuring every interaction reflects the Y’s values and inclusive spirit. Guide and support aquatics staff, uphold YMCA standards, and help create a team culture where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported. Prioritize Safety: Maintain safety standards, assist with safety drills, and help keep the pool environment compliant and ready for participants. Strengthen Community Connections: Build relationships with members, families, and staff to create a connected, encouraging aquatics community. Deliver High Quality Programs: Support the organization, scheduling, and implementation of aquatics programs—including lessons, classes, and offerings—to ensure smooth, consistent experiences for all members.

Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 18+ years old.
  • 1 year of aquatics experience required.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications required (training provided and paid for by the YMCA).
  • Excellent organization, communication, and planning skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPO or Lifeguard Trainer certifications preferred.
  • Supervisory experience highly preferred.
