About The Position

Aquatic Seasonal Maintenance is responsible for performing general maintenance and upkeep duties for the Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park. The entire wage range for this position is $15.00-$22.50. The hiring range will be $16.00-$18.00 depending on qualifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily and demonstrate the District’s core competencies consisting of integrity/ethics, job knowledge, interpersonal skills, policies & procedures compliance, work quality, risk management/safety, District/Department vision and values, adaptability/flexibility, dependability, teamwork, and productivity. Essential Duties Mow and trim with small tractors and mowers. General landscape, maintenance and horticulture work. General maintenance functions for buildings, facilities, and site amenities. Operate equipment including but not limited to a pool vacuum, power washer, leaf blower, hand tools, shovels, and brooms. Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions observed to the supervisor. Remove all garbage and refuse materials. Assist in the setting up, operation and taking down or other maintenance duties for special events. Appearance Arrive to work suitably attired for the job(s) you are expected to perform. Cooperation & Attitude Obey the practical safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the loss control program that is pertinent to the activities conducted by the department. Wear required personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves, etc.). Keep work areas clean and orderly at all times. Perform other duties as assigned by Aquatic Supervisors. Communication Promptly report all accidents and injuries occurring within the course of employment, no matter how minor to the supervisor. Technical Skills Occasionally perform general maintenance service on equipment. Occasionally handle pool related chemicals. Leadership Actively support loss control programs that effectively control and reduce accidents. Attend all required safety programs and in-service education meetings. Avoid engaging in any horseplay and refrain for distracting others. Cooperate with and assist in the investigation of accidents to identify cause and corrective measures to prevent their recurrence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Physical ability and endurance to perform the job as required.
  • Physical ability to swim.
  • Good sense of water safety.
  • Ability to operate hand and self-propelled power equipment.
  • Knowledge of the ability to maintain and care for turf, trees, buildings, equipment, and the repair of the same.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and is self-motivated.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondences and to speak effectively before groups of participants or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to identify and respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Ability to effectively adjust to stressful situations (i.e. disputes between participants).
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and adapt to change.
  • Basic knowledge of Park District programs and procedures.
