About The Position

At the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, water is more than just a pool—it’s where community happens. As our Aquatics Director 2 , you’ll lead the charge in making our aquatic programs safe, high-quality, and fun for everyone who dives in. From lifeguards to swim lessons, you’ll ensure our teams and programs shine while keeping safety and excellence front and center.

Requirements

• Minimum Age: 21
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• Experience: At least 1,600 hours of lifeguarding plus 4 years of direct aquatic teaching
• Skills: Strong leadership, organization, and communication chops
• American Red Cross Lifeguard (before day one)
• Certified Pool Operator within 6 months
• Lifeguard Instructor within 12 months
• Adult Mental Health First Aid within 6 months

Responsibilities

• Leading, inspiring, and supporting a team of lifeguards and aquatic staff
• Keeping our pool environments safe, clean, and welcoming
• Building programs that make a splash—from swim lessons to certifications
• Modeling the Y’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility
