About The Position

The City of Fairburn is seeking to fill the seasonal position of Aquatics Crew Leader for the duration of the summer camp to provide a safe, aquatic environment at various aquatic facility areas, and to adhere to all safety rules and procedures. The Aquatics Crew Leader assists with the performance of administrative duties to assure a safe and efficient aquatic program and facility. This includes assisting with the supervision of personnel and programs as well as taking an active role in programs as a lead, lifeguard, cashier, and general pool maintenance as directed. The seasonal crew leader will report to and receive general directions and supervision from the Aquatic Supervisor, Athletic Coordinator, Recreation Manager, and Parks & Recreation Director.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in aquatics including working as a lifeguard.
  • Lifeguard Certification required.
  • AED (Automated External Defibrillator) required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • First Aid certification required.
  • Requires an acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check and sex offender registry check.
  • This position is deemed safety-sensitive and is subject to random alcohol and controlled substance testing.
  • Skilled as a lifeguard or swim instructor.
  • Knowledge of aquatic facility administration.
  • Knowledge of and ability to handles facility public relations matters as needed.
  • Knowledge of pool filtration, sanitary systems and pool chemistry.
  • Knowledge cash handling, cash control, daily reports and deposits.
  • Ability to assist in supervising pool and programs during operation hours.
  • Ability to assists in assuring the safe and efficient operation of aquatic program and facility.
  • Ability to correct facility personnel and programs as directed.
  • Ability to assists in the management and scheduling of staff regarding their duties.
  • Ability to assist in preparing pool for opening and closing.
  • Ability to assists in training new lifeguards and instructors and to provide in-service training to staff.
  • Ability to schedule staff and makes recommendations for changes in operating hours.
  • Ability to be on-deck liaison with public during swim lessons as directed.
  • Ability to assists in setting the appearance standard to staff.
  • Ability to assists in completing daily cash reports, secures monies, and closeout the facility.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in providing supervision of the pool and programs during assigned operation hours.
  • Assists in scheduling staff for lifeguard and instructor duties.
  • Assists in preparing pool for opening and closing.
  • Assists in enforcing facility operating schedule and makes recommendations for changes in operating hours and/or staff hours as needed to supervisor.
  • Assist in the training of new lifeguards and instructors and provides in-service training to current staff members.
  • Performs duties of lifeguard and swim lesson instructor as directed.
  • Performs on-deck liaison during swim lessons with the public as directed.
  • Assists in setting the example in personal appearance and uniform and enforcement.
  • Assists in handling public relations at the pool as directed.
  • Reports all incidents to the Facility Supervisor.
  • Assists in completing daily cash reports, securing monies and closing down the facility as directed.
  • Assists in correcting staff for noncompliance of policy or responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
