About The Position

Aquatics Assistant Coordinator Shift: Various hours and days including nights, weekends, and holidays FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Created or Revised Date: 03/2026 Rate: $26.00 hourly Eligible Full-Time staff are currently working under a 32 hour work week pilot program. What You'll Be Doing: Under the general direction and supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor, this position assists with administrative work, and supervision of the Aquatics staff, manages aquatics operations and safety functions, and performs aquatics maintenance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Lifeguarding/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or similar certification through a nationally accredited organization.
  • Two years of working experience in Aquatics
  • One year of staff management experience

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, implements, promotes, supervises, and evaluates aquatics programs for all ages and abilities to meet the community’s needs.
  • Coordinates and/or instructs various classes including Lifeguard and SAI trainings, swim lessons, as well as program registrations.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, schedules, supervises, evaluates, develops, and coaches staff to ensure safe and effective services, including direct supervision of one full-time Aquatics Specialist and multiple variable hour employees (VHEs).
  • Provides comprehensive staff training and development, including SAI certification preparation, ongoing orientation, and on-the-job training in lifeguarding, CPR/First Aid, customer service, safety procedures, emergency response, and District policies.
  • Leads recurring staff development initiatives such as monthly in-service trainings, skill assessments, staff meetings, and risk-management activities including certifications, lifeguard observations, scenario evaluations, and accident/incident report tracking.
  • Demonstrates expert proficiency in CPR/AED/First Aid and all lifeguarding skills in accordance with StarGuard Elite standards, supported by considerable knowledge of water rescue techniques, lifeguarding practices, and water safety.
  • Ensures a safe aquatic environment by adhering to all operational and safety procedures, enforcing established policies, and recommending updates or improvements to aquatic operations as needed.
  • Prepares and reviews a variety of forms and reports such as journals, time sheets, incident/accident forms, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Oversees daily pool operations by coordinating with the Aquatics Supervisor and facility maintenance team; supervises mechanical systems, monitors water quality, and ensures all health and safety procedures are consistently followed.
  • Manages aquatics equipment and supplies, maintaining the pool deck, pump room, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and operationally ready condition.
  • Provides excellent customer service in a timely manner.
  • Communicates openly and effectively with supervisors, co-workers, staff, participants, parents, volunteers, contractors, and other community members.
  • Models appropriate behaviors and handles complaints and disciplinary problems involving patrons or staff in a professional manner and adhering to district policies and procedure.
