About The Position

Assists the Association Aquatics Director with the overall planning, development, management and supervision of all aquatic's programs of the branch. This position functions as a 20-30 hour per week job for Fall and Spring. The position is full time during the summer. All YMCA staff are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive environment. This includes following all YMCA policies and procedures related to abuse prevention, reporting concerns or incidents immediately, and maintaining appropriate boundaries with youth and members. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Position requires two years of college or equivalent experience in an aquatics position.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Prior experience or training in staff supervision and management.
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and Blood Borne Pathogens. (obtain within 60 days of hire)
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent. (obtain within 60 days of hire)
  • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
  • Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must become proficient within 60 days in the use of Daxko.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of daily pool operations.
  • Assists the Director in the hiring, training, and supervision of all necessary personnel to deliver each program component.
  • Coordinates scheduling of aquatics staff to provide proper program delivery.
  • Keeps record of aquatics staff certifications and ensure all staff maintain current certifications.
  • Maintains records of attendance and monitors payments for each program participant.
  • Maintains pool, equipment, and grounds to meet all necessary program and regulatory standards.
  • Maintains relationships with vendors and member service with parents and program participants.
  • Oversee birthday party lead and assistants.
  • Responsible for filling gaps in lifeguard and swim instructor schedule.
  • Follow systems, practices, and training related to risk management and safety of participants and staff, and follow accident report procedures and policies.
  • Completes payroll for all aquatics staff.
