About The Position

Under the direction of Branch Management, the Aquatic Coordinator helps develop, organize and implement high quality member-focused YMCA aquatics programs. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Senior Aquatic Director at the Bradford YMCA oversees the development and operations of YMCA programs including healthy living, youth & family, sports, wellness, membership, aquatics, group exercise, and other programs and designs practices, processes, and procedures for strong program and project management. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in aquatics field with at least two (2) years of supervision experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in the field of aquatics and current certifications are required; YMCA experience preferred but not required.
  • Certifications:    ● CPRO for the Professional Rescuer & AED
  • Basic First Aid certification
  • Current YMCA lifeguarding or American Red Cross Lifeguarding
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications: Certified Lifeguard, Certified Swim Instructor.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills. Ability to speak distinctly, to communicate with customers and staff on the phone or in person.

Nice To Haves

  • YMCA experience preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in aquatics field with at least two (2) years of supervision experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Including Aquatic Coordinator, lifeguards, swim instructors, swim coaches, and Head Swim Coach.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance and develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
  • Ensures records on staff certifications are current and complete
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations
  • Work closely with facility staff to ensure proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
  • Oversees Association Lifeguard, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR training and in-services.
  • Attend regular competitive swim team meetings and events
  • Supervise Head Coach and provide administrative support to the swim team.
  • Assist as needed with all competitive swimming events.
  • Ensure the AED’s throughout the branches are current, rescue equipment is functional, and First Aid and CPR supplies are ordered.
  • Creates and schedules swim classes, Swim Team, Family recreation swim, and lap swim times. Keeps schedules current.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information including providing information for the program guide.
  • Develops and monitors instructional program budget to meet fiscal objectives and assists with development and monitoring of Competitive program budget
  • Takes a leadership role in the Annual Campaign and serves as the Staff Campaign Director for the branch. Recruits, onboards, and develops volunteers from diverse backgrounds for the annual campaign program. Works closely with the Sr. Director of Branch Operations and the Association Advancement Director in meeting the established annual campaign goal.
  • Models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
  • Attends Leadership Team meetings.
  • Complies program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program
  • Carries out additional responsibilities and assignments deemed necessary by the CEO or the Executive Director
