About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Coordinator is to provide the safest possible environment for YMCA members and participants in the pool area. Acts as a shift supervisor in the absence of Aquatics Director. Must be able to recognize a hazardous situation. They must be able to supervise swimmers, minimize dangers, educate members about water safety, enforce rules and regulations, prepare records and reports, teach swim lessons, and give assistance whenever needed. This is a full-time hourly position consisting of 20-30 direct program hours a week, and additional department administrative duties. Assist the Aquatics Director with program implementation, staff training and development, member engagement, and department programming and promotion. Requirements

  • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
  • Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Minimum of three year's coaching, lifeguard, or swim instructor experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and have knowledge and understanding of administrative, management, financial, program, and human relations skills
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
  • Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED, and First Aid

Nice To Haves

  • Swim Lesson Certification (Red Cross WSI or YMCA) or equivalent experience preferred
