Adult Protective Services (APS) Assessor – Region 1 (Northwest Indiana) Location: Region 1 – Northwest Indiana Employment Type: Full-Time Work Model: Virtual with Local Travel Required (up to 50%) Schedule: Monday–Friday, Regular Business Hours Summary Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) is hiring an APS Assessor to support the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. In this role, you will investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation involving endangered adults. This position requires on-site field investigations and travel within the following counties: Lake, Jasper, Newton, LaPorte, Porter, Pulaski, Starke, Marshall, St. Joseph, Benton, Carroll, Tippecanoe, Warren, White, Cass, Fulton, Miami, Parke, Vermillion, Fountain

Requirements

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases
  • Professionalism, cultural competence, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective interviewing and active listening skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to policy and regulatory changes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet applications
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and sound decision-making
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in adult protective services, investigations, social services, human services, or law enforcement

Responsibilities

  • Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation involving endangered adults
  • Conduct interviews, review records, and collaborate with other investigative agencies
  • Initiate and coordinate referrals to services and community resources
  • Document investigation activities, including case notes, safety plans, and findings
  • Serve as Priority A responder on a rotating schedule for cases requiring contact within 24 hours
  • Ensure all assigned investigations are completed within required timeframes
  • Review and respond to quality assurance evaluations
