SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide leadership, training, and supervision to student-athletes in a specific middle school sport, fostering skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth within the framework of the school's athletic program. Serves as a positive role model for students, promoting a healthy and ethical approach to competition. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, organizes, and leads engaging and developmentally appropriate practice sessions Teaches fundamental skills, team strategies, and rules and regulations of the sport. Helps athletes develop physical conditioning, techniques, and tactical understanding. Analyzes individual and team performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance. Prioritizes the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices, competitions, and related activities. Enforces safety procedures and ensures proper use of equipment and facilities. Follows established procedures in case of athlete injury or emergency. Completes and maintains required safety training, including CPR and AED certifications. Complies with the APSAP Coaches Handbook and supports an inclusive program that encourages participation from all interested students. Maintains discipline and fosters positive team dynamics, sportsmanship, and respect for others. Communicates effectively with athletes, parents/guardians, school administrators, and other stakeholders using approved district communication tools. Assists with the inventory, care, and maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms. Helps plan and coordinate the schedule of practices and events. Performs related duties as assigned by the principal or athletic director.
