About The Position

Program Summary KBR maintains and manages Army prepositioned stocks at the Army Field Support Battalion - Charleston (AFSBn-CHS) land site and aboard ship to include all logistics and maintenance operations. The KBR APS-3 Program is managed and executed at Goose Creek in support of the Army’s power projection doctrine and resources. The contract provides maintenance of APS-3 stocks (Class II, IIIP, IV, VII, IX) to ensure that unit sets stored aboard marine vessels are configured and maintained at optimal readiness. KBR provides limited maintenance and supply support aboard ship to ensure that equipment sets are maintained in a ready condition for emergency download and issue to operating units at the direction of the US Army. KBR also provides maintenance services and logistical support for other Army programs IAW individual scope of work contract requirements. Job Summary Organizes and coordinates the activities involved to maintain and repair mechanical equipment, including trucks, automobiles, diesel engines, etc. Ensures that equipment is maintained according to requirements. Utilizes Computerized Equipment Management System to monitor and control equipment maintenance. Advises employees of proper operation and maintenance of equipment, trains new mechanics, and further develops skills of current workers. Monitors equipment operation at job site and ensures that proper maintenance and safety procedures are followed. Trains PSL equipment operators in preventive maintenance procedures. Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of parts and supplies to ensure timely maintenance. Promotes safety, QIP awareness, and teamwork. Roles and Responsibilities The Maintenance Shop Foreman will: Act as a first-line supervisor to a team of mechanics, with a direct reporting relationship to the Shop Supervisor. Supervise 8-15 employees in the performance of automotive maintenance on military vehicles, associated platforms, and trailers. Drive team members to complete production requirements on schedule, safely, and to the customer’s specified quality level. Lead meetings with their team at the start of shifts to assign work and receive work progress updates. Coach, mentor, train, and develop team members as well as participate in maintenance tasks as necessary to achieve desired results. Plan, organize, and lead day-to-day activities of one or more departmental or functional activities. Implement training requirements and monitor employee performance. Establish production standards, monitor compliance, and recommend operational improvements. Assist the supervisor in accomplishing the short and long-term goals for the department/function. Maintain employee compliance with safety policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations. Deliver weekly goals and objectives established by the Shop Supervisor to meet department production schedules. Be accountable for the care and tracking of all assigned government-furnished vehicles, tools, and property. Enforce department and program policies and procedures. Recommend personnel actions. Enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment is provided for our employees, and OSHA requirements are met. Commit to and advocate a Zero Harm safety culture. Promote the use of technical references, Built-in Quality checklists, and other resources to ensure the workmanship of completed jobs meet customer expectations. At times work directly with the customer to present completed products for acceptance inspections. Use quality performance metrics to analyze and correct substandard quality workmanship trends through training and other actions.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with a valid U.S. Passport
  • Requires a combination of some college plus military training in maintenance MOS and 8 years of experience in progressive leadership positions. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of other formal education.
  • Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.
  • Must obtain and maintain local base access and Common Access Card (CAC) requirements.
  • Requires a strong background in automotive maintenance.
  • Must have leadership and time management skills.
  • Requires advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a skilled planner.
  • Computer literacy includes knowledge and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Must be able to stand - between 2 to 3 hours per day.
  • Must be able to walk - between 4 to 5 hours per day.
  • Must be able to Lift - up to 35 lbs. – 50 lbs. periodically.
  • Must be able to squat, knell, bend, reach and climb periodically.
  • Must be able to work outside and inside in non-climate-controlled environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with GCSS-Army.
  • Quality control/quality assurance training or QMS experience.
  • Military experience in maintenance management/supervision
