Requirements

Interest in a career as a diesel or emergency vehicle technician
Mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience, through school, training, or entry-level work
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to pass pre-employment screening

Responsibilities

Assisting senior technicians with diagnosing and repairing fire trucks and ambulances
Learning to inspect and service diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, and air systems
Performing preventative maintenance under supervision
Helping with vehicle safety inspections and road tests
Accurately documenting work performed, labor time, and parts used
Maintaining a clean and safe work area and following OSHA and company safety standards
Moving vehicles safely within the shop and yard
Supporting team members as needed and learning best practices in emergency vehicle repair
