About The Position

An Optician is a trusted eyewear consultant who combines clinical knowledge with a passion for style and service to help patients achieve their best possible vision. In this role, you’ll guide patients through personalized lens and frame selections based on doctor recommendations, while creating a welcoming, boutique-style shopping experience. Success in this position comes from building strong relationships, delivering clear education, and making each patient feel confident in their choices. Beyond patient interaction, the Optician plays a key role in maintaining an organized and visually appealing retail space, managing inventory, and ensuring accurate, timely order processing. This position offers a unique blend of customer service, attention to detail, and creativity—balancing hands-on styling with essential administrative responsibilities like insurance coordination and optical lab order preparation.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Customer Service Experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous optician experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in the selection process of spectacles, providing education on quality choices, lens selection, and frame styling to fit their lifestyle and prescription.
  • Calculate insurance co-pay based on insurance eligibility.
  • Accurately enter spectacle orders; ensure timely delivery by monitoring status on a daily basis.
  • Receive spectacle orders into system, verify order, notify patients, and schedule dispensing.
  • Contact patients for follow up on progress of adapting to dispensed eyewear and prescribed contacts.
  • Perform adjustments and repairs when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot patient concerns with eyewear when necessary.
  • Maintain inventory pertaining to all aspects of the optical retail area, including lab supplies. Report inventory as required.
  • Maintain displays of optical merchandise.
  • Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the office manager or team lead, and doctor(s).
