Penn United Technologies, Inc. is now accepting applications for a full-time Apprentice Machinist to join our Component Manufacturing team at our Carbide Division. This role requires the flexibility to rotate among daylight and afternoon shifts. A 10% shift premium is offered for non-daylight shifts. Requirements

Have excellent math & mechanical skills/aptitude
The ability & desire to do precision work
Candidates must be able to work shifts, lift up to 40 lbs., and stand 8-10 hours per day.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers strongly preferred, but not required
Previous experience with lathes, mills and/or surface grinders is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

Read prints & job orders to determine dimensions and machine set-up
Set-up and operate various machining equipment such as 5 axis CNC lathes, and CNC mills in order to machine components to precise customer specifications
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media.
Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring devices (such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
Attend on-site apprenticeship classes in addition to on-the-job learning while performing responsibilities on the shop floor. This is a state recognized Apprenticeship program leading to Journeyworker papers upon completion of the 4-year training program.
