Position type: Hourly Position Overview This role combines on‑the‑job training with formal instruction through the Pennsylvania College of Technology CNC Machinist Program (approximately 144 hours of coursework). The apprentice will develop foundational machining skills while working under the supervision of experienced Machinists and Tool & Die Makers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must pass all job‑related tests.
  • SPC (Statistical Process Control) training required or must be obtained.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the course curriculum as outlined by the Penn College CNC Machinist Program (materials provided by HR).
  • Learn the basic operation and use of mills, lathes, band saws, hand tools, drills, and drilling machines.
  • Apply basic math skills, including simple geometry and algebra and interpret prints and drawings, and develop proficiency in measurement techniques and layout work.
  • Gain introductory knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), CNC programming, and heat treatment processes.
  • Study the proper use of precision measuring tools—including micrometers, calipers, laser micrometers, digital height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs)—and correctly interpret results to determine part acceptability.
  • Maintain material identity and accurate records related to SPC, production, and other required documentation.
  • Enter and retrieve data through designated computer systems.
  • Operate machine shop equipment under the supervision of a Machinist A or Tool & Die Maker A.
  • Perform all tasks in full compliance with company, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned work areas and adhere to all company policies.
