The HVAC Apprentice assists the HVAC Journeyman to perform Corrective and Preventive Maintenance of UMCS Heating, Ventilation, and Air conditioning (HVAC) systems and associated equipment at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC-PAC) .
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent. In lieu of diploma or equivalent, trade school certifications can be used for credit towards years of experience.
- Must be willing to enroll in the UA Local Union 230 Apprenticeship Program that includes HVAC Maintenance and Services training.
- Must be either a member in good standing of UA Local Union 230 or willing to become a member.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
- Onsite. No relocation funds available, must be within 50 miles of Point Loma, San Diego or willing to waive travel requirements.
Responsibilities
- Performance of preventive maintenance inspections, diagnostics and corrective maintenance on heating hot water boilers, chillers, piping, pumps, air separators/expansion tanks, air handlers, fan coils, exhaust fans, cooling towers, air compressors, dampers, coils (HW, CW, DX), motors, control valves, pressure reducing valves, relief valves, and all other support systems as needed.
- Replace piping systems; cut, bend, fabricate using steel, copper, PVC and associated fittings specific to the type of pipe being used to connect new equipment installations and replacements.
- Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to pass customer background check.
