This includes performing complex duties under stressful conditions and being responsible to take any reasonable action necessary to ensure safe, reliable electric system operations and alleviate operating emergencies. Any one position may not include all duties nor do the example of duties include all tasks, which may be found in the position of this class.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical theory and power distribution systems
  • The design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the SRP Distribution System
  • Safety procedures required to work on the SRP Distribution System
  • Skills in the proper use of: Keyboarding
  • Verbal and written communication of highly technical material
  • Software programs used in the Distribution Operation Center (DOC)
  • Ability to: Analyze and diagnose problems in a logical and accurate manner in real time situations
  • Perform moderately complex math calculations, including algebra and some trigonometry
  • Work independently, including organizing work and making own decisions with limited supervision
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Certifications or Testing Required Criticall test
  • System Operator Power Dispatcher II (SOPDII) aptitude test which is to be administered on site during the pre-employment process
  • Educational prerequisites as required by the Distribution System Operator (DSO) Apprenticeship Committee
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, control and direct all activities taking place on the SRP Distribution System.
  • Performing complex duties under stressful conditions and being responsible to take any reasonable action necessary to ensure safe, reliable electric system operations and alleviate operating emergencies.
  • Employee must work safely and efficiently in the performance of their job duties.
  • Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers, and the public.
  • Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and have the ability to accurately and legibly complete applicable paper work.
  • May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime.
