Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Apprentice Controller I with experience in pipeline, terminal or plant operations to join our growing team! Role Summary: The Apprentice Controller I role is responsible for the daily operations of product movements into and out of Macungie Station including coordinating all incoming and outbound pipeline product movements while working closely with the Pipeline Controller in Buckeye’s Allentown Control Center, maintaining compliance with Control Room Management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have the ability to navigate basic computer systems (i.e. Windows)
  • Be able to work with a calculator and work with numbers including fractions.
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift work schedule
  • Must be able to visually monitor several computer screens in a Local Operations Room environment for twelve (12) hour shifts.
  • Must maintain a high level of mental alertness and be capable of quickly processing and reacting to incoming information from the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System.
  • Response time is very critical.
  • Must possess good communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment, process work rapidly, set priorities, work under pressure, and follow through with assigned tasks with limited supervision.
  • Most of the work is being the only person on site, working independently.
  • Responsible to maintain a level of security of the facility and be able to summon authorities as needed.
  • Must have the ability to climb pipeline tanks that can be 60 ‘ tall, lift at least 40 pounds, work indoors as well as outdoors in all types of weather elements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pipeline, terminal or plant operations is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of SCADA applications and MS Office applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring timely receipts of product and optimize the scheduling process by coordinating / implementing / communicating with customers and other Buckeye support personnel.
  • Communicating with the Allentown Control Center regarding pipeline related activities and communicating with 3 party pipeline companies to ensure products that are received comply with Buckeye specifications and meet the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Performing the applicable product sampling and testing as required.
  • Monitoring quality instruments and trend and react to abnormalities as required and monitoring manifold and piping contents to ensure product compatibility issues.
  • Reviewing and monitoring pipeline schedules for accuracy and notifying applicable scheduler / shift lead with any concern or question.
  • Performing daily stock work / inventory control, including climbing tanks for manual gauge as schedule permits.
  • Logging Meter data, tank data and product quality data received on the SCADA computer system.
  • Completing tank information in the station logs, as well as in the Electronic Tank Book, coding receipts / deliveries and generating the relevant pipeline tickets on batch completion maintaining worksheets for product movement in and out of tanks at Macungie Station, etc.
  • Staying current with relevant trainings and OQ’s that are needed to perform the Controller I job.
  • Performing routine maintenance and other duties as requested.
  • And other duties as assigned.
