About The Position
The Mechanic Apprentice is responsible for performing preventative maintenance on heavy and light duty vehicles in a controlled environment under the supervision of an assigned mentor. The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay. The Mechanic Apprentice position is available to current University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and AVTEC students enrolled in an applicable automotive or heavy diesel program.
Requirements
- Enrolled in an Automotive or Heavy Diesel Program at the University of Alaska Anchorage or AVTEC.
- Two letters of recommendation are required, including one from a program instructor. Additional letters from current or former employers are also acceptable.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.
Nice To Haves
- Petrochemical, oilfield or arctic experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Verify and perform any necessary preventive maintenance on all heavy equipment and/or light duty vehicles.
- Checks and maintain all levels of oils, greases, and other lubricants in heavy equipment and/or light duty vehicles according to specified procedures and oral instructions.
- Inspect equipment belts, hoses, and leaks.
- Document any necessary maintenance.
- Coordinates repairs needed with shop foreman and will make minor repairs/adjustments
