About The Position

Conducts complex residential property appraisal to establish a fair and equitable ad valorem tax base; appraises boat docks; assists in training new appraisal staff members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Three years property appraisal experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above.
  • Georgia Department of Revenue Appraiser II Certification. Must meet annual require ments to maintain certification.
  • Valid Class I Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Knowledge of accepted appraisal techniques and methods used in placing values on residential property.
  • Knowledge of basic materials and methods used for residential construction.
  • Ability to research building costs, sales data and other pertinent information when appraising residential property.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to make mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews all new building permits issued by Hall County to make positive identification of all new construction; locates and inspects property to be appraised; obtains all pertinent data (quality, size, shape, age, depreciation, etc.) required to properly establish appraised market value of the property.
  • Records data collected during field audit on property cards; locates and records property data related to zoning, comparable market data, etc.
  • Utilizes approved appraisal calculation methods and property data collected to establish appraised market value of the property.
  • Appraises boat docks in Hall County; assists management in establishing procedures and schedules for appraising boat docks.
  • Assists supervisor in the training of all Appraiser I employees.
  • Determines appraised values for splits from tracts of land; assists senior appraisers with the appraisal of commercial and industrial structures.
  • Assists in developing pricing and valuation schedules for the valuation of real property.
  • Answers property owner inquires related to appraisal of property; justifies values during appeals to the Board of Tax Assessors, Board of Equalization, and/or Superior Court.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
