The Applied Research & Development (R&D) Mechanical Engineer is responsible for driving continuous improvement, cost reduction, and innovation across manufacturing operations. This role focuses on improving processes, developing new glass products and production equipment, and integrating mechanical and electronic systems to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency. The role collaborates closely with Production, Sales, Quality, and Engineering teams to support product development, process improvements, and the successful launch of new glass products. Responsibilities of the Applied R&D Mechanical Engineer include researching emerging technologies, evaluating potential applications, and implementing solutions that advance manufacturing performance, in addition to prototype fabrication, equipment trials, system integration, and refinement of manufacturing methods to ensure reliable, high-quality production. This position also drives continuous improvement by identifying cost-saving opportunities, optimizing equipment performance, and applying best practices across processes and systems. It supports operational excellence and reinforces a culture of quality, efficiency, and innovation.
