About The Position

The ABA Specialist/Behavior Analyst provides behavior-analytic consultation to IEP teams and supports classrooms, teachers, and students at DCIU and within Delaware County schools. Consultative services provided by the ABA Specialist/Behavior Analyst include conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), developing Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), conducting Verbal Behavior Assessments, providing consultation, supervision, and staff training. The ABA Specialist/Behavior Analyst leads the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans and instructional programs grounded in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and evidence-based behavioral interventions and supports to address the learning and behavioral needs of students. This position supervises and provides support to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Crisis Managers, and conducts their annual evaluations. Additionally, the ABA Specialist/Behavior Analyst collaborates with and oversees Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) placed in DCIU programs by various contracting agencies, ensuring alignment with behavior plans and student needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate Degree (Master's) from a qualifying institution that meets the requirements for the BCBA certification.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification
  • Licensed Behavior Specialist credential
  • Meet the current Behavior Analyst Certification Board Standards for Supervision Requirements to supervise Exam Candidates, which must be maintained during tenure of appointment.
  • Prefer 3 years' experience in a behavior-related field

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and prepares comprehensive FBA reports.
  • Develops Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) for students using evidence-based practices in ABA.
  • Writes instructional programs to assist in teaching skills and positive behaviors and maintaining acquired skills.
  • Trains staff on FBAs and PBSPs and evaluate PBSP implementation through systematic observation, consultation, and progress monitoring reviews.
  • Develops and leads the implementation of data collection systems and analysis of data to monitor student progress.
  • Provides ongoing student, classroom, school, and intermediate unit or district consultation.
  • Participates in IEP and team meetings to discuss FBAs, PBSPs, and student progress.
  • Provides professional development to professional and non-professional staff in ABA and other evidence-based behavioral practices.
  • Lead supervisor and support to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Personal Care Assistants (PCA), Paraprofessionals, Crisis Managers, and staff completing internships, practicums, and/or courses in ABA.
  • Conducts annual evaluations of Crisis Managers and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).
  • Collaborates with various contracting agencies to support the supervision of Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) placed in DCIU programs and services.
  • Serves as a mentor or advisor in areas aligned with their credential and expertise.
  • Maintains records as required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) to ensure compliance.
  • Models technical, professional, moral, and ethical behavior, and personal integrity in all interactions.
  • Uses professional knowledge and independent judgment to strategize continuous improvements
  • Maintains CEU requirements and participate in professional development
  • Completes and passes Safety Care Train-the-Trainer certification course.
  • Remains ethically compliant and up-to-date with professional and regulatory standards to ensure all practices, recommendations, and documents align with academic, ethical, professional, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Attends and participates in internal meetings, projects, and continuous improvement plans as assigned and warranted.
  • Provides support and services to students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 or age of graduation.
  • Provides behavioral support and interventions for individual students, groups of students, or adult clients in DCIU operated programs or services.
  • Offers parent training in behavior strategies and supports.
  • Performs other duties as requested and/or assigned
