About The Position

The Opportunity: In the defense mission space, artifi cia l intelligence (AI) is only as strong as the mathematical foundations that enable it. As an Applied AI Mathematics Intern, you’ll help our team explore emerging approaches in optimization, modeling, probability, and algorithmic development to advance the next generation of mission solutions. Massive real world data sets paired with operationally relevant problems give you the chance to apply academic theory to meaningful national security outcomes. On our team, you’ll work closely with data scientists, AI engineers, and mission experts to understand client questions, apply mathematical met hods to data driven challenges, and evaluate the performance of advanced AI and machine learning (ML) techniques. You’ll support algorithm design, model validation, analytic experimentation, and explainability analysis to help ensure deployed AI is t rus tworthy, robust, and operationally effective. Requirements

  • Experience with programming languages or frameworks, including Python, Java, C++, Go, or JavaScript
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, version control, and collaborative development workflows
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a STEM field by Spring/Summer 2027

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI or ML model development or integration
  • Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, or DevSecOps tooling
  • Experience with databases such as SQL or NoSQL or data engineering pipelines
  • Knowledge of Agile development
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, or a related STEM field

  • Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
  • The projected compensation range for this position is $55,200.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD).
