The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Analyst II Salary Range: $78,467 - $85,000 This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency's remote work program but does require weekly onsite work The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is seeking an Applications Systems Analyst II to join the team that supports the Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF). This role is responsible for providing analysis and development support for the maintenance and enhancement of database systems for the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), such as the Fisheries Information Network and the Biological Database. This position will also complete server/database configurations and migrations, as well as provide technical support for division and department staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development
  • Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in application consulting or development
  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and six years of experience in business application consulting or development; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in application development using languages such as C#, SQL, and JavaScript and/or .NET platforms such as ASP.NET and Microsoft Blazor
  • Experience with object-oriented programming and database design
  • Experience analyzing user needs and translating requirements into functional solutions

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining agency-wide application systems in alignment with DEQ standards
  • Designing and managing relational databases, ensuring high data integrity and optimized performance
  • Leading application development efforts using programming languages such as C#, SQL, JavaScript and others, as well as development platforms such as ASP.NET and Microsoft Blazor, where applicable
  • Performing system analysis, gathering requirements, and translating business needs into technical solutions
  • Leading projects as the technical lead, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Providing second- and third-level application support and resolving high-complexity technical issues
  • Documenting designs, processes, and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in compliance with state IT standards
