About The Position

The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that NCDIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. NCDIT’s mission is to enable trusted business-driven solutions that meet the needs of North Carolinians. NCDIT provides technology services to state agencies and is charged with closing the digital divide by expanding availability of broadband services and promoting the adoption of affordable, high-speed internet. Salary Range: $70,528 - $105,793 The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act. This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work. Are you ready to take the next step in your career? We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Analyst I. The purpose of this position is the maintenance and enhancement of database systems for the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). This position will provide analysis and development support for the Fisheries Information Network (FIN), provide development support for replacement of legacy applications from MS Access to .NET, and provide backup application development support to the Biological Database, as well as create and maintain database and application documentation. The NC Department of Information Technology (DIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of North Carolina, supporting state and local agencies, educational institutions, and public organizations. This position operates within DEQ’s Information Technology Services Division and provides application development and database support essential to DEQ’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution, Or Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development, Or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of database theory and design, SQL syntax, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
  • Demonstrated web development skills using ASP.NET, Microsoft Blazor, and JavaScript.
  • Experience interacting with staff to obtain user requirements, review documentation, resolve issues relating to program documentation, and discuss options for problem resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Development, enhancement, and maintenance of custom n-tier applications systems using modern programming language such as ASP.NET, C#, Microsoft Blazor, HTML5, AJAX, JavaScript, JQuery, and/or DevExpress.
  • Use and development of relational database tables, views, stored procedures, and triggers to perform Create, Retrieve, Update, and Delete (CRUD) functions.
  • Meet state security requirements during application development and deployment.
  • Conversion and importation of legacy and/or current data from existing disparate systems.
  • Maintain and monitor data integrity of application databases.
  • Meet with subject matter experts to develop requirements for new or upgraded applications.
