About The Position

We are currently seeking an Applications Engineer with substation experience for our client in the Spartanburg/Duncan area. This is an immediate, direct hire opportunity. Why This Role Exists Our client is expanding its Conductor Accessories team and is looking for a technically strong engineer who enjoys working directly with customers, sales teams, and internal engineering groups. This role serves as the technical bridge between substation products and the utilities that rely on them—ensuring products are applied correctly, documented clearly, and supported thoroughly from launch through installation. Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year (based on experience) Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) with Company Match Annual Bonus Opportunity Paid Vacation Company-Paid Holidays Life Insurance What You’ll Do As an Applications Engineer, you’ll be the bridge between our technology and our customers’ success. You’ll spend time in the field providing technical support to our client's energy utility customers for substation products, while also supporting our teams behind the scenes with technical documentation and insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
  • 3+ years of experience with substation design or application
  • Exceptional communication skills—able to translate technical details into clear solutions
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Confidence and leadership ability to conduct training sessions and lead field activities
  • Ability to Travel

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical codes a plus
  • Experience with substation connectors, bus connectors, and wedge connections preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical advisor – provide technical support to customers, sales, and customer service representatives including customer visits and field training.
  • Support product innovation – participate in field trials for new products, provide feedback from real-world usage, and assist with upgrades and testing.
  • Keep projects on track – review closeout packages, validate installation quality, and sign off projects for warranty coverage.
  • Create resources that matter – write and update installation manuals, service notes, drawings, application notes, new product introductions, and other documentation that helps both internal teams and customers succeed.
  • Train and educate – lead product training sessions for contractors, end-users, and partners to ensure confidence and understanding.
  • Act as the customer’s voice – gather insights from the field to share with engineering, helping shape the future of our substation products.
  • Lead proposal efforts – Take the lead on all technical RFP/RFQ response requirements.
  • Stay up to date – Remain up to date on product offerings and technology of competing companies.
