About The Position

The Applications Analyst is responsible for promoting the use of the information systems at Great Plains Health as an expert in clinical, nursing, and medical information data and applications. Analyses and coordinates the use of all applications across all departments. Is an expert in the use and functionality of applications he/she is assigned. Provides application training to staff. Cross trains other Applications Analysts to support all aspects of each application. Attends training as directed. Works with department directors, employees and physicians to build applications for efficient and standardized use. Directs daily work on project implementations.

Requirements

  • RN, BSN, MSN or Bachelors degree in another healthcare profession or equivalent experience required. OR Bachelor degree from a NAACLS accredited medical technology education program or Bachelor degree in Information Technology field or five years of clinical laboratory experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two years as a LIS administrator or assistant LIS administrator preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the definition and enhancements to workflows as they relate to the use of software applications.
  • Modify tables/master files, and dictionaries making additions and changes as required. Implementing changes using documented procedures that are compliant with hospital, vendor and departmental policies and procedures. Oversees operations and maintenance of application specific hardware and operating environments as assigned.
  • Provide ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of applications; including 24/7 on call coverage as required, acts as second level of support and triages application issues.
  • Take ownership of issues and act as a liaison between customer and other support staff, including external vendors, to facilitate problem resolution. Serves as project coordinator and provides technical leadership for installation and upgrades.
  • Participate in and lead team and cross-team meetings and provide periodic informal work guidance/direction to, and training, of staff members.
  • Develops and maintains a high level of expertise concerning the functional capabilities and interrelationships between the various clinical applications including: Order Control/Results Reporting, Clinical Documentation, Medication Charting, Clinical User Interfaces, PACS, Lab, etc.
  • Document technically complex information with articulation and accuracy. Cross trains other Application Analysts.
