About The Position

Application Scientist II Pharma US Job Summary Sensient Pharmaceuticals is a leading global supplier of high-quality, innovative sensory excipients, including colors, coatings, flavors, and extracts for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets. Applications Scientists in the Pharmaceutical group provide technical support to internal and external customers through formulation, custom blending, prototyping, and troubleshooting at both pilot and commercial scales. The role requires interpreting scientific data and applying Sensient’s products in end applications such as gummies, tablets, capsules, powder blends, and beverages. Experience in the food or ingredient industry is valued, as it closely aligns with nutraceutical and some pharmaceutical applications. What you will do: Provide technical R&D support for internal teams and customer projects, testing colors, flavors, extracts, and coatings in end applications. Lead technical discussions with customers and Account Managers; guide formulation development and troubleshooting. Recommend optimal products based on formulation, processing, target markets, and regulatory requirements. Manage colors and coatings projects; coordinate with Regulatory and oversee timely product sampling. Formulate new solutions, support shelf-life studies, and contribute to marketing value propositions. Utilize analytical tools (UV-Vis, colorimeter, pH, Brix) and prepare technical reports and documentation. Travel to customer sites to support product implementation and collaborate with Flavors on taste and technology solutions. What you will bring: B.S. or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Food Science, or related scientific field. Minimum 2+ years of formulation experience in coatings, colors, flavors, or food-based applications. Understanding of pharmaceutical development and registration processes preferred. Familiarity with fluid bed and pan coating equipment, granulators, tablet presses, encapsulators, and printing systems preferred. Knowledge of project management and analytical techniques preferred. Experience delivering technical presentations in academic or industry settings preferred. Strong English communication skills; proficiency in MS Office and ERP/business systems (e.g., JD Edwards) preferred. Requirements

  • B.S. or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Food Science, or related scientific field.
