About The Position

As an application engineer at Cleaveland/Price, your primary goal will be to assist both internal and external customers by providing knowledge, support, and analysis on the application of C/P products. You will be responsible for tactically interfacing with internal departments and external vendors, representatives, and end users to understand their requirements then working with the development and application engineering departments to provide functional, well-engineered solutions that match our manufacturing capabilities. Your technical expertise will be required at the quoting, design and manufacturing stages to provide support for different internal and external challenges. Your ability to learn and communicate effectively will allow you to quickly understand customer specifications, drawings and structural limitations to provide clear design direction to others in the Application Engineering department. Additionally, your knowledge of the product line will be used to provide suggestions on how customers can improve the application of our products. This comprehensive skillset makes you an asset to our engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology from an ABET accredited program or related field.
  • Familiar with structural analysis including frame analysis, finite element analysis and strength of materials.
  • Familiar with integration of different mechanical components (springs, linkages, bearings etc.) into a product design considering fit, functionality and cost.
  • Competence in the core areas of technical skill, teamwork, interpersonal skill, professionalism and motivation
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Cleaveland/Price in the US.
  • This position is available at two different career levels depending on experience, education, etc.
  • Level I: 0-2 years of experience.
  • Level II: 2-4 years of experience.
  • An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for up to two years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information from internal and external customers and assist in the creation of new or modified designs.
  • Provide support, through email, phone communication, or on-site interaction for product concerns or issues both internally and externally.
  • Provide technical analysis on various structural and disconnect switch operating configurations.
  • Provide information used in the creation of technical documentation relating to product features and usability.
  • Present product information to customers using CAD drawings, technical reports, and presentations.
  • Provide information used in the investigation of technical problems and the creation of procedures, processes, and corrective actions to avoid recurrences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
