About The Position

The Application Engineer supports the Low Voltage Assemblies (LVA) organization by developing departmental standards for Bidman and circuit design, contributing to automation requirements in partnership with the Design Automation team, and communicating new technical information to COEs and supervisors. The role provides advanced applications support, including pre and post order technical assistance, field sales guidance, Portland and EPC (Canada). Additional responsibilities could include supporting warranty, participating in 8D investigations, advising supply chain on device substitutions, and maintaining technical documentation including white papers and application papers. This position serves as a development pathway into a full Application Engineer role, with the incumbent receiving structured mentorship from a senior Application Engineer while building technical knowledge, applications expertise, and cross functional problem solving capabilities." Develops recommendations for departmental standards related to Bidman and circuit design to support consistency, quality, and efficiency within LVA engineering processes. Contributes to the creation and refinement of technical standards and collaborates with the Design Automation team to define automation scope, validate automation outputs, and support continuous enhancement of automated design tools. Communicates new and updated technical information to customer order engineers (COEs) and supervisors. Supports LVA design activities for Portland and EPC (Canada), providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and design guidance for complex applications. Advises field sales on LVA application questions, offering technical insight and product knowledge to support accurate system design and customer proposals. Provides advanced pre and post order technical and application support to customers and internal stakeholders, addressing complex product, configuration, and application challenges. Supports the warranty team by investigating complex field issues, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions to resolve customer concerns. Assists supply chain by providing guidance on device substitutions, ensuring compatibility with LVA designs and adherence to technical requirements. Provides mentorship to less experienced engineers, while receiving ongoing coaching and structured development from a senior Application Engineer to build technical capability, product expertise, and applications engineering proficiency."

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of electrical switchgear experience
  • 3+ years of customer order engineering (COE) experience
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • No relocation benefit is being offer for this position. Only candidates currently residing within a 50 mile radius of Arden, NC will be considered.
  • Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of LVA Electrical Switch Gear
  • LVA Electrical Switch Gear Experience
  • Must be able to work with diverse internal/external customers within a cross functional work environment.
  • Must also be able to train and develop new engineers to the product line
  • Must stay up to date on codes and standards that are applicable to the LV Switchgear product line
  • Working knowledge of all systems used by a COE
  • Working knowledge of power distribution and controls, industrial controls, commercial products.
