Job Description: This job is responsible for completing and tracking compliance deliverables to ensure applications adhere to policies and standards as well as local laws, rules, and regulations. Key responsibilities include supporting compliance deliverables and infrastructure requests, vendors, development teams, and technology managers to ensure timely completion of compliance activities. Job expectations include partnering with control functions, risk management, and Global Information Security teams to complete compliance deliverables effectively and efficiently. The Application Control Specialist (a.k.a. Application Manager) is accountable for owning and managing internal and Third-Party applications in compliance with all the applicable bank policies and standards to meet the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) objectives required of those functions. The Application Control Specialist is the liaison between the Business Solutions Manager and the Application Governance risk leads managing highly visible and mission critical applications working closely with the development, production support, risks, and Third-Party management teams. As the Application Manager, the individual will be responsible for completing all RISE, CM (Continuous Monitoring), NPT (Not Permitted Technology), audit specific and other ad hoc risk related deliverables associated with the applications they manage. The position offers opportunities to grow into other development areas within the Application Governance & Risk Control team. In this area of application management responsibility, the individual will have counterparts and support in the US and India.

Responsibilities

  • Completes administrative and non-technical tasks related to risk, security, and other compliance deliverables (e.g., access reviews, assessments, questionnaires, and procedural requirements) on time and per requirements for the application supported
  • Tracks and supports the technical security and risk activities performed by the development teams (e.g., remediation of non permitted technology or security vulnerabilities, technical recovery planning, and disaster recovery exercises)
  • Works with technology infrastructure teams to incorporate infrastructure requirements, including requests for additional storage
  • Assists with audit exams and risk assessments for applications
  • Works closely with vendors for vendor applications to ensure they meet bank requirements
  • Maintains data about the application in AppHQ and other systems of record
  • Assists with ad hoc inquiries and questions about applications
  • Ensure the SOR (system of records) data is accurate and complete.
  • The Application Control Specialist must certify the accuracy of application records on a periodic basis (at least every 180 days) for any application record in the following life-cycle stages: In Development, In Production, Projected Retire, Retired, Retain Application & Data or Retain Data status.
  • For sourced and Third-Party managed applications, the individual works closely with their support and Third-Party management partners to provide technical direction to ensure that Third Party applications meet Bank objectives, SLAs, and that all applicable information regarding the application is correct.
  • If a Third Party is leveraged to build an application that will be hosted internally, the individual is responsible for providing oversight and ensuring the Third Party follows the Bank and control requirements.
  • The Application Control Specialist is responsible for the creation of Enhanced Remediation Programs (ERPs) and drive their remediation to include effective plans and realistic yet aggressive timelines to reduce Bank risks.
  • The individual must proactively look at the horizon and ensure items like infrastructure, coming due exceptions, etc. are owned and managed.
  • Provide guidance and lead discussion with support teams and clients as needed to aid in decision making.
  • Provide oversight for application management proxies and/or delegates to ensure their work is performed in compliance with the Bank standards and policies.
  • Work in a matrixed environment across development, production support, infrastructure, risk, and line of business to identify and remediate risk and compliance related issues.
  • Help manage and cross train offshore resources in meeting all risk related deliverables.
