The inpatient mental health unit at the Children’s Hospital in St. Paul is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider-Medical Hospitalist. The inpatient mental health program offers a multi-disciplinary care team of psychiatrists, APPs, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, child life therapists, mental health specialists, and music therapists. Care for youth as young as 6 years old and up to 18 years old.

Requirements

  • APRN\: Current MN RN/APRN License.
  • Nationally Board Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with either the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) -OR- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Physician Assistant Certification by the NCCPA Certification Board and MN Medical Board license required.
  • Current BLS

Nice To Haves

  • Post master’s certificate P.M.H.N.P. preferred but not required.
  • Current/previous experience in inpatient pediatrics as a nurse, nurse practitioner or PA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete admissions, provide clinical management of acute and chronic medical conditions, and complete medical discharge instructions as needed.
  • Communicate with guardians to review past medical history, pharmacy information, and provide an overview of the inpatient mental program.
  • Collaborate with consulting services including but not limited to endocrine, gynecology, wound team, and integrative therapies.
  • Provide care coordination for medical needs as patients transition to partial hospitalizations and outpatient programming.
  • Support nurses with questions around medical needs of patients on the unit.
  • Work with leadership on quality improvement based on the needs of the child and adolescent inpatient mental health unit.
