The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking a seasonal Fleet Service Technician to join our Rutland team. Starting pay may be negotiable based on your experience and qualifications. In this role, you’ll use your skills in diagnostics, repair, and maintenance to keep a diverse fleet running. Equipment includes light and medium-duty pickups, heavy-duty dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, excavators, trailers, and more. Proficiency with diagnostic software and vehicle electronics is important, as is the ability to collaborate, share knowledge, and stay busy in a team-oriented environment. The work is hands-on and often complex, but it plays a critical role in keeping Vermont’s transportation system safe and reliable for the traveling public. This position is eligible for a sign-on and retention bonus of up to $2000! You must apply online to be consideredEnvironmental FactorsDuties are typically performed in a district garage or motor shop, where normal motor shop hazards exist. Incumbents may be required to make emergency road repairs at any time of day and in inclement weather; such work may present additional hazards. Incumbents must be physically able to use tools and lift parts and materials common to working on heavy vehicles and equipment. Incumbents may be exposed to blood or airborne pathogens. Once incumbents have obtained a commercial driver's license, they are required to participate in a random drug and alcohol-testing program. Overtime work may be required.
