The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), through its Healthcare-Associated Infections/Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) program within the Division of Disease Control (DDC), oversees public health surveillance and response to infections associated with healthcare settings, including infections with multidrug-resistant organisms, contaminated medications, healthcare procedures, and devices. The HAI/AR Program also conducts educational activities to prevent and control the emergence of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance in Philadelphia healthcare facilities (HCFs). The HAI/AR Program seeks a qualified individual to serve as an Antibiotic Stewardship Epidemiologist to analyze antibiotic prescribing data and to conduct outreach to healthcare facilities related to antibiotic stewardship education and quality improvement; assist in the tracking of associated grant deliverables and evaluation of program initiatives; and participate in core HAI/AR outreach, surveillance, and response activities as part of a multidisciplinary program. This is a full-time position. A part-time option may be negotiable. This position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional work after hours and on weekends may be needed to support Program activities. This is a grant-funded position; continuation of the position is contingent upon sustained funding. This is not a remote role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, and hear. This job may require moderate physical effort, including lifting materials and equipment of less than 50 pounds, and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 50 to 75 percent of the time. The position may require responding to public health emergencies on short notice and some after-hours activities to achieve Program Objectives. This position reports to the HAI/AR Program Manager.
