About The Position

As an Annuity Suitability Analyst you will perform duties related to the Company’s suitability processes and procedures to comply with state regulations. This includes the review of annuity new business applications. . These reviews include, analyzing and approving or rejecting the new business applications based on the product applied for and customer’s suitability information collected at the time of the sale. The Annuity Suitability Analyst position reports to the Manager, Annuity Operations and Suitability and is based out of our home office in Topeka, Kansas. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or combination of equivalent experience and education
  • Two to four years’ experience in insurance compliance
  • Thorough knowledge of annuity products and regulations, both on the federal and state level
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Superior work ethic and the ability to work well with diverse personalities
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Strong decision-making skills that can be applied in a fast-paced environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and time management
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to cope with, implement and communicate continuous changes in a positive manner
  • Ability to be productive and positive in the middle of a high-pressure/high profile process
  • Ability to proactively define, set, implement and monitor procedures

Responsibilities

  • Performs heightened review and ongoing follow up on all applications that do not pass initial suitability requirements.
  • Determines suitability and communicates suitability decisions to agents, Marketing Organizations and/or appropriate internal departments.
  • Maintains proper records regarding the reviews and the corresponding decisions regarding suitability.
  • Conducts retrospective reviews of annuity applications that to ensure ongoing process remains in compliance and to detect any trends and/or issues relating to sales.
  • Assist in auditing records of suitability reviews performed by third parties.
  • Collaborate with internal departments regarding new product implementation and the corresponding suitability requirements.
  • Assists management in developing and implementing policies and procedures regarding new products.
  • Assists in monitoring state and federal regulatory changes relating to product suitability. This includes state insurance regulations, National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) requirements.
  • Assist management in developing and implementing new policies and procedures to comply with regulatory changes.
