Animal Shelter Operations Manager

About The Position

Reporting to the Chief of Police or his/her designee, the Animal Shelter Operations Manager is responsible for the care of animals at the Conroe Animal Shelter and the management of all staff on location. The position is responsible for day-to-day operations, budgeting, adoption program and coordinating veterinary services for a spay/neuter program.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum five years of related working experience.
Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's license or higher and insurable under our auto policy.
Experience developing or implementing shelter enhancement programs.
Experience working with, or for, reputable rescue or foster programs.
Working knowledge of breeds, diseases, medical conditions, and animal handling and behavior.
Patient, courteous, and work well and efficient under stressful conditions.
Ability to work unscheduled hours, including long shifts, late hours, certain holidays and weekends. Assigned schedule may regularly include either a Saturday and/or Sunday.
Ability to drive, stand, bend, squat, walk and talk for up to eight-ten hours a day; ability to lift 50 lbs.
Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment. A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required.
Must pass FBI Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) fingerprint-based criminal background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
