Under the general supervision of Comparative Medicine Management and/or staff veterinarians, this position is responsible for providing daily care to animals and maintaining facilities used for experimental and breeding colonies. CMAR technicians perform routine husbandry for multiple species, including—but not limited to—daily animal observations, handling and restraint, feeding and watering, cage and rack changes, and sanitation of animal rooms and equipment. The role also involves operating the necessary equipment and using appropriate supplies to complete husbandry tasks. Technicians are responsible for maintaining accurate daily records for animals and room environments in accordance with LBRI quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements. Additional duties include maintaining cleanliness in the cage wash area, warehouse, diet kitchen, and animal equipment storage areas, as well as performing other related tasks as assigned. This position involves working with non-human primates and sheep. Weekend coverage is required, including both Saturday and Sunday.
