Job Description Summary Provide care and maintenance for all animals by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science preferred but not required.
- Two or more years animal care experience in a veterinary environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to treat animals with care and respect and feel comfortable socializing animals off leash
- Ability to assess animal heather conditions and to obtain blood samples and urine samples when needed
- Ability to work independently as well as be a team player
- Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction
- Ability to write legibly and read documents
Responsibilities
- Keeps kennels clean, orderly and free of odors
- Ensures that kennel areas are clean, orderly and safe for animals
- Feeds animals as scheduled and according to guidelines and make sure that have water at all times
- Complies with specific feeding programs related to behavioral enrichment for specific animals
- Ensures that animals have socialization daily
- Exercises/socializes animals daily and abides by exercise program in place for each dog/cat
- Documents necessary animal information for management or veterinary staff.
- Ensures the comfort and cleanliness of all animals
- Bathes or cleans animals immediately if they become soled with urine, blood, or feces.
- Takes inventory of stock supplies as needed
- Cleans laundry as needed
- Advises Supervisor of any conditions that are unsafe including unrecognized hazards or infractions of safety rules.
