About The Position

We are seeking a Research Specialist with a strong interest in translational research. This position provides direct experience in assisting with non-GLP and GLP regulatory preclinical investigations. The Research Specialist will participate in research study planning, hands-on training, laboratory management, and regulatory compliance. The Research Specialist directly oversees all vivaria, managing daily vet care and supply inventory. In addition, the Research Specialist will assist in the oversight and execution of standard operating procedures, animal study protocols, and training of laboratory personnel, surgery fellows, post-docs, and pre-vet students.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
A valid driver's license is required.

7-10 years of experience is preferred.
A minimum of 1 year of large animal experience is also preferred.

Responsibilities

Be an active member of the PSC-CORL CORE group meetings
Res Assistant scheduling, supply inventory, ordering, and billing
Overseeing and participating in daily animal care consistent with the clinical standard of care for each species (rat, rabbit, pig, sheep, goat, horse) and regulatory compliance as it pertains to IACUC, USDA, and 21CFRpart58 (GLP) regulations
Ensure compliance in accordance with animal welfare protocols, including protocol submission, renewals, and amendments
Leadership role related to the supervision of junior lab members and learners as it pertains to daily animal care, including perioperative care and postoperative procedures
Assists in IACUC protocol and Study Report preparation, participates in GLP Study execution
Liaises with CORL IACUC protocol manager and ULAR Attending Veterinarian NBC Designee to ensure animal census is compliant and protocols are current and updated
Perform additional duties as assigned
