Animal Adoptions Associate - Part Time - Animal Shelter
About The Position
Hiring Part Time Adoption Associate for our Leslie A. Malone Center! Humane Colorado is seeking a compassionate, customer-focused individual to join our team as a part-time Adoption Associate specializing in small animals. In this role, you will guide potential adopters through the adoption process, care for animals, maintain clean adoption spaces, and ensure a positive experience for every visitor. Key responsibilities include handling animals, completing adoption paperwork, updating records, and supporting volunteer engagement. This position requires comfort working in a fast-paced environment with frequent physical activity and direct interaction with animals. Purpose of Position: Provide assistance and adoption counseling to shelter patrons.
Requirements
- Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with insurable driving record
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and work within a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- High attention to detail
Nice To Haves
- Desired Experience providing high level of customer service
- Experience working with and handling animals in a shelter or similar environment
- General knowledge of companion animal breeds and animal welfare
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-level customer service to the organization’s patrons.
- Meet with potential adopters to gather and give information to assist in the process of adopting an animal.
- Review and complete adoption paperwork.
- Perform data entry to update animal records.
- Handle and move animals and facilitate the interaction between animals and patrons.
- Provide food, water and care for animals, including at least 2 holiday Animal Care shifts per calendar year.
- Clean and maintain adoption counsel rooms and areas.
- Contribute to and lead initiatives to improve processes and procedures.
- Act as a resource for volunteers by answering questions, providing training and coaching in the moment, and addressing concerns.
- Perform euthanasia and related tasks.
