About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital - Charlestown, MA is seeking a compassionate and experienced Veterinary Technician to work alongside our board-certified Anesthesiologist. As an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician, you will: Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs. Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions. Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance. Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal. Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s. Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management. Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors. Comfortable with medical math. Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery) Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc. Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically. Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload Why BluePearl?
