About The Position

SUI is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Cardiovascular Anatomy & Physiology for our allied healthcare programs. We welcome enthusiastic educators with a student-centered mindset who are comfortable delivering coursework in both synchronous and asynchronous formats. The course delivery will be approximately 40% synchronous, with the remaining content facilitated asynchronously. Availability required: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM: Synchronous lectures will be scheduled within this time window for a minimum of 2 hours per week and may be adjusted based on student progress. Office hours: Availability Monday–Thursday, 9-5:00 PM to respond to student emails. Job Description for General Education Faculty The GE Faculty is responsible for delivering high-quality education in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and cardiovascular A&P to students pursuing careers in healthcare and related disciplines. This role involves designing and delivering engaging lectures, creating instructional materials, and assessing student performance. The instructor plays a crucial role in fostering a positive learning environment that promotes student understanding, critical thinking, and application of concepts. The Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology Instructor role is pivotal in shaping the future healthcare workforce by imparting foundational knowledge and skills to aspiring professionals. This position offers the opportunity to inspire, guide, and contribute to the success of students pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, allied health, and other related disciplines.

Requirements

  • A master's or doctoral degree in a relevant field (such as anatomy, physiology, biology, medical education, or a related healthcare discipline).
  • Demonstrated expertise in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology through academic achievements and professional experience.
  • Prior teaching experience, preferably at the post-secondary or higher education level.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Passion for educating and mentoring students in the healthcare field.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development:
  • Design and develop a comprehensive curriculum for GE courses, ensuring alignment with program goals and industry standards.
  • Select appropriate textbooks, supplementary materials, and resources to support learning objectives.
  • Instructional Delivery:
  • Conduct engaging, interactive lectures, presentations, and discussions that help students understand complex anatomical and physiological concepts.
  • Utilize various teaching methods, multimedia tools, and technology to enhance the learning experience.
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Design assessments, quizzes, exams, and assignments to evaluate student comprehension and mastery of course materials.
  • Provide timely feedback on student performance to guide them toward improvement and deeper understanding.
  • Maintain accurate records of student grades and attendance.
  • Student Support:
  • Offer regular office hours and be accessible to students for individual consultations, academic advising, and addressing questions or concerns.
  • Provide additional resources and study aids to help struggling students succeed.
  • Professional Development:
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and educational pedagogies.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with colleagues and program administrators to ensure course alignment, consistent assessment methods, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with students, peers, and staff through various channels, including email and online platforms.
