About The Position

The Analytical Technician at Dow supports manufacturing operations by conducting laboratory analyses and evaluating results, which provides critical data. This role involves preparing samples and performing basic calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and methods. The technician uses data systems to acquire data and monitor analytical system performance and reports results to clients. This position requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes and may act as an informal resource for team members with less experience. Requirements

  • A minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus laboratory, manufacturing or other related experience
  • Must be willing and able to work the 2nd shift schedule (3PM-11PM)
  • Ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  • Constant standing, walking, hand movement, and repetition.
  • Occasional carrying, push/pull, reaching, twisting/turning, and bending while utilizing proper ergonomic techniques.
  • Physical requirements include long periods of standing or sitting with infrequent lifting requirements (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Must be able to wear and use respirators.
  • Proactive Problem Solving - The individual must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and react quickly to evolving and dynamic production scheduling situations, with minimum supervision.
  • Time Management - Work independently with excellent time management and judgment in prioritization skills, as the requirements of the business may cause frequent interruptions and changing priorities.

  • Troubleshooting - Ability to troubleshoot analytical equipment to drive resolution to unplanned equipment issues.

  • Proficient with computers in order to perform testing, upload results, perform SPC charting, enter Work Notifications, enter Logbook notes, etc. (Outlook, Excel, SAP, Sample Manager, OPD, MOC).

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine analyses.
  • Collect samples according to the Sample Plan.
  • Prepares basic calibration standards.
  • Performs basic calibration and preventative maintenance of analytical systems.
  • Evaluates validity of data, applies basic statistics, interpret results and takes appropriate action.
  • Monitors analytical systems, identifies problems, conducts first-line troubleshooting and escalates as appropriate.
  • Documents, communicates and archives analytical results and calibration data.
  • Follows EH&S and operating discipline management system (ODMS) procedures and practices for work tasks.
  • Suggest improvements to lab work processes and tools
  • Escalates non-routine requests to appropriate team members for follow-up.
