About The Position

The Analytical & Research Scientist will support the business vision to be a leading supplier of quality tea, coffee, botanical ingredients, and fruit-based beverages by performing laboratory testing as follows:          Specialized analyses – such as HPLC, LC/MS, GC/MS, and spectrophotometric assays Basic Routine analyses – such as pH, color, turbidity, moisture, density, protein, and particle size analyses.  Based in our global technical laboratory located at the Quonset business park in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, the role also involves working with the US and global team of scientists to provide technical insight to any business that requires analytical expertise.  The incumbent is expected to conduct analyses in support of these, as well as develop and validate methods, and create standard operating protocols (SOPs). Additionally, the role entails conducting routine laboratory exercises (such as calibrations, housekeeping and GLP).

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Chemistry, Food Chemistry or related field
  • Previous experience in analytical chemistry including HPLC, LC/MS, and GC/MS is REQUIRED.
  • 3~5 years of food industry experience.
  • 3~5 years laboratory experience and GLP
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in scientific report writing

Nice To Haves

  • Beverage analytical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new analytical methods, improve existing analytical methods, and introduce innovative analytical methods for tea, coffee, botanicals, and fruit-based products.
  • Perform specialized and routine analyses according to procedures,
  • Capture data according to requirements, analyze the data, create reports and communicate these accordingly,
  • Engage in multidisciplinary teams, across our Group and in various functions to share learnings and provide technical insight into projects,
  • Conduct basic research to improve existing analytical methods.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, according to GLP, conducting calibrations and verification routines.
