About The Position

The Analytical Lab Assistant is responsible for providing support to scientists with lab tests and research. The incumbent receives, stores and distributes supplies, assists with pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical test processes, and other related tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in related work
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions
  • Ability to measure in pounds, ounces and liters
  • Ability to read, understand and implement written laboratory procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Analytical skills are necessary for completion of tasks within the department.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, and effectively interact with all levels of staff
  • Ability to demonstrate time management and perform a variety of tasks with changing deadlines
  • Ability to learn basic laboratory safety procedures and policies, and work to ensure a safe working environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry/Biochemistry/ Analytical Chemistry/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry related preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Orders, receives, stores and distributes supplies
  • Keeps work areas stocked and cleaned
  • Reviews inventory for expiration dates, and works to prevent inventory shortages of stock that is used on a regular basis
  • Cleans and prepares lab tools for future use
  • Organizes and archives documents
  • Assists with pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical test processes
  • Extracts lab products such as chemicals and fluids from bulk storage, and distributes smaller portions for daily lab use
  • Assists in preparing chemical solutions according to methods, performs daily balance calibrations on equipment, conducts daily checks of temperature and humidity and records results
  • Participates in a variety of training, including GMP procedures, as well as have the ability to learn/perform analytical tests/methods as needed
  • Works on routine assignments per written procedures. The ability to recognize deviation from accepted practices is required.
  • Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior staff.
  • Performs job specific tasks in compliance with applicable regulations, international standards, and company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
