About The Position

The Analytical Lab Assistant is responsible for providing support to scientists with lab tests and research. The incumbent receives, stores and distributes supplies, assists with pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical test processes, and other related tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1-3 years’ experience in related work
Oral and written communication skills
Ability to read and follow written instructions
Ability to measure in pounds, ounces and liters
Ability to read, understand and implement written laboratory procedures
Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Analytical skills are necessary for completion of tasks within the department.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, and effectively interact with all levels of staff
Ability to demonstrate time management and perform a variety of tasks with changing deadlines
Ability to learn basic laboratory safety procedures and policies, and work to ensure a safe working environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry/Biochemistry/ Analytical Chemistry/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry related preferred.

Responsibilities

Orders, receives, stores and distributes supplies
Keeps work areas stocked and cleaned
Reviews inventory for expiration dates, and works to prevent inventory shortages of stock that is used on a regular basis
Cleans and prepares lab tools for future use
Organizes and archives documents
Assists with pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical test processes
Extracts lab products such as chemicals and fluids from bulk storage, and distributes smaller portions for daily lab use
Assists in preparing chemical solutions according to methods, performs daily balance calibrations on equipment, conducts daily checks of temperature and humidity and records results
Participates in a variety of training, including GMP procedures, as well as have the ability to learn/perform analytical tests/methods as needed
Works on routine assignments per written procedures. The ability to recognize deviation from accepted practices is required.
Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior staff.
Performs job specific tasks in compliance with applicable regulations, international standards, and company policies and procedures
