The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities. The Environmental Sustainability and Resiliency (ESR) Task Force analyzes and tracks Citywide sustainability and resiliency funding and supports agencies and other OMB units in the formulation, design, evaluation of policies and investments. The ESR Sustainability Policy Unit is a multidisciplinary team that conducts policy analysis and special projects focused on the City’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The unit also supports the development of New York City’s Climate Budget, which will publicly quantify the impacts of City actions toward climate-related goals and targets, promoting Citywide coordination, climate-aligned investment decisions, and accountability. This position will support the City in meeting its commitments related to the $6.8M in Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG). Please note that this is a grant-funded position, with funding secured through August 2027. Employment beyond the term of the grant will be dependent upon the availability of funding. Topics include: - Greenhouse gas emissions from buildings, transportation, and waste management systems - Energy generation, transmission, storage, and utilization - Scope 3 emissions - Climate action co-benefits, including air quality, health impacts, resiliency, and economic development - Environmental and climate justice
